...and Odetta's babies are already 5 weeks old! Two of the girls and one of the boys are already spoken for, so we are very excited for them to go to their new loving families in 8 weeks or so. Little Anastasia will be staying with us to be assessed as a future Queen for Windy Acres Siberians.
On Saturday, we moved them to the dining room in their ex-pen with all their kitty supplies. They love it, but Momma was a little worried for a while until she realized they were safe and happy. Odetta is a such a good and protective mom, but like most cat mothers, has a hard time understanding why 5 week old kittens don't want to be dragged back to where Momma deems safe.
We took individual pictures Saturday as well. I had originally planned to wait until 6 weeks, but the light was good that day and they were in transition anyhow... so Jenaya (my daughter) and I tried our hand at kitten picture-taking. Oh boy, was that fun! (read sarcasm here :) We did well with most of them, but will have to retake a few of the more uncooperative, busy ones. The group shot was a disastrous idea... so we just hauled out their favorite kitty bed and took some of them all jumbled together. Then they had us in stitches as they wrestled and played together - pausing from time to time to see what in the world we were so interested in. Oh well, formality is over-rated anyhow! Look for the pictures in a few days when I am able to upload them.
Take care,
Carolee
